About 20 human runners — and one dog — set off on the YMCA of Callaway County’s Hot Cocoa Hustle 5K in 2018.

For those willing to brave the winter cold Saturday for the YMCA of Callaway County’s annual winter 5K, hot chocolate awaits.

The Hot Cocoa Hustle 5K is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the YMCA parking lot at 1715 Wood St. in Fulton.

Currently, about 20 people are signed up to participate. Registration will remain open online and in person until the event begins Saturday.

Cold temperatures, ranging from the mid-20s to mid-30s, are expected.

“You just never know with winter runs,” YMCA Marketing and Events Director Amie Conway said. “Last year, there was snow on the ground and we had people show up to run.”

The event is open to everyone. Participation costs $20.

“It’s really just a fun run to keep people active through the winter months,” Conway said. “We want to get people out and get people into the Y.”
