More snow expected Thursday across Mid-Missouri

The National Weather Service in St. Louis forecasts mixed precipitation will turn to snow in Mid-Missouri by the evening of Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020.

Mixed precipitation is expected to turn to snow by Thursday evening in Mid-Missouri, with additional snow accumulations of up to 2-4 inches in the forecast from the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

A Winter Weather Advisory issued for the area extends through 6 p.m. Friday.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, a total 0.7 inches of snow had been observed in Jefferson City and 1.2 inches in New Bloomfield.

The highest amounts of snow are expected across portions of central and northeastern Missouri, as well as west-central Illinois, according to the NWS.

The NWS warns that slippery road conditions are likely, which could impact the morning and evening commutes Thursday and Friday.
