Three in custody following traffic stop in Jefferson City

A traffic stop Thursday morning led to a foot pursuit and eventually the capture of three subjects in Jefferson City.

According to police reports, around 10:46 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle license violation in the 1200 block of W. Stadium Boulevard. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Colton Birdno, 20, of Jefferson City, exited and fled on foot while three others stayed in the vehicle

Responding units were able to create a perimeter and begin a search for Birdno. Approximately 35 minutes later, Birdno was taken into custody in the 2000 block of Honeysuckle Lane behind some homes near Wears Creek.

Birdno has an outstanding warrant larceny and is now facing a new charge of resisting arrest.

The driver, an 18-year-old Jefferson City resident, was taken into custody at the scene of the original traffic stop for traffic offenses. A second passenger, 19 year old Trent Miller, was taken into custody for several outstanding warrants from both Cole and Callaway Counties.

The remaining occupant was released from the scene.
