Three juvenile males are accused of possessing items stolen in December from a High Point convenience store after two of them were arrested Thursday for assaulting law enforcement officers, according to a news release from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office.

The two, whose names were not released, were taken into custody after California police officers responded to a location inside the city to investigate a report of a juvenile in possession of a handgun. While there, the two males allegedly assaulted the officers, who then called upon sheriff's deputies for additional assistance.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the juveniles were in possession of several firearms which reportedly were stolen in the city on the same date as a vehicle theft. In addition, several items were recovered in the residence that are believed to have been stolen from the Bee Line Convenience Store at High Point last month.

Deputies had responded early Dec. 31 to a burglary alarm at the store and gas station, where they found glass broken out of a window and several items missing. A review of security video showed three males breaking into the store stealing several cartons of cigarettes, vape pens and several pints of alcohol.

The sheriff's department said the two juvenile males taken into custody at the California residence were transported to the juvenile detention facility in Camdenton. A third juvenile believed to be involved in the burglary also has been identified.
