CCP honored in Missouri contest

Capital City Productions was recently recognized with three awards from the Missouri’s Best 2020 competition.

The annual competition is held through Missouri Magazine, a digital publication, with nominations submitted throughout November. Voting took place throughout December.

Rob Crouse, with CCP, said he did not know who nominated the organization, but he was excited to say they won in all three categories CCP was nominated in: Best Entertainment Venue, Best Live Theater Group and Best Dinner Show.

In each category, CCP was up against venues and groups from all over the state. For Best Entertainment Venue, some of the other entries included the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, The Blue Note in Columbia and even a few Jefferson City locations, including the Miller Center and the Windstone Entertainment Event Center.

In addition to CCP’s awards, Crouse said two people who often act in CCP shows won Best Local Actor and Best Local Actress. Alex Armstrong was named Best Local Actor. (Interestingly, Missouri natives Brad Pitt and John Goodman were also nominated. Pitt came in second.) Kendra Shields was named Best Local Actress, with Missouri native Jenna Fischer, best known as Pam from “The Office,” coming in second place. (Missouri native Kathleen Turner was also nominated in that category.)

“We’re pretty excited about that,” Crouse said of the awards.

Winners will attend a red carpet event March 26 at The Regalia Hotel & Conference Center at the Lake of the Ozarks, and Crouse said CCP will be represented.
