Three Jefferson City men have been charged after a drug deal in December.

David Thompson, 25, is charged with attempted distribution of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance.

Colton Birdno 29, and Darik Giarratano, 19, are each charged with one count of felony stealing.

Birdno and Giarratano went to Thompson's residence in the 1200 block of Swifts Highway, which is within 2,000 feet of Helias Catholic High School, to allegedly buy narcotics, according to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements.

Birdno and Giarratano allegedly robbed Thompson of a safe containing money and narcotics.

Thompson tried to stop Birdno and Giarranto from leaving the property and grabbed onto their car as it drove off, but Thompson fell off the vehicle.

Thompson called law officers after the robbery and allegedly lied to them, saying he didn't know Birdno and Giarranto, but authorities later learned all three were friends.

Thompson later reportedly admitted to selling the drugs to the other two men. He allowed officers to search his residence, and officers said they found 10 grams of marijuana, an electronic scale and several smoking devices.

When interviewed by authorities, Giarrantano allegedly admitted to going to the Swifts Highway address with Birdno, being present during the robbery and driving the vehicle.
