6 Callaway County incumbents seek re-election

FULTON, Mo. - All incumbents and two challengers had filed as candidates for Callaway County offices up for election this fall as of Tuesday afternoon.

Filing for the Nov. 3 general election opened Tuesday and closes at 5 p.m. March 31; primary elections for races with more than one candidate from a given party will take place Aug. 4.

Incumbents seeking reelection - all as Republicans - include Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, Western District Commissioner Roger Fischer, Assessor Jody Paschal, Public Administrator Karen Digh Allen, Sheriff Clay Chism and Treasurer Deborah Zerr.

Additionally, Republican Will Shackleford is running for Western District commissioner, and Democrat Donnie Horstman is running for Eastern District commissioner.

Townships and wards may also have committeeman/committeewoman races.

To file as a candidate, hopefuls must file the required forms at the Callaway County clerk's office, show identification, complete Form 5120 for the Missouri Department of Revenue and submit a $50 filing fee to the county central committee for the party in which they're filing. Required forms may be found at callawaycountyclerk.org.

Independent candidates have until July 27 to file and may do so by submitting a petition to the Callaway County clerk's office. Write-in candidates must file by Oct. 23.
