Eldon High School celebrates courtwarming

Eldon High School celebrated courtwarming Feb. 14 with a pep assembly and basketball game against California.

The king, Logan Hall, was crowned by returning king Jakob Krantz at Friday's pep assembly.

The queen, Kayleigh Fike, was crowned between Friday's junior varsity and varsity games by returning queen Nicole Reynolds.

Logan Hall is the son of Matthew Hall and Tonya Taylor. Logan has been involved in basketball for four years, football for three years, baseball for one year and FFA for two years. Logan received Honorable Mention All-District sophomore year and All-District junior year for basketball. Logan plans to attend a four-year university and become a mental health therapist.

Kayleigh Fike is the daughter of Alecia Etter and Jeremy Fike. Kayleigh is a member of National Honor Society, FFA, softball, basketball and student council. She received All-District and All-Conference the past four years for softball. She was a member of the 2016 district champion softball team and the undefeated 2017 conference champion basketball team, and she received Honorable Mention All-Conference for basketball. Kayleigh has placed at state for the conduct of chapter meetings for FFA, and she competed in state for agronomy and nursery and landscape. Kayleigh was in the top 10 percent of her class and achieved summa cum laude her sophomore and junior years. She has been a class officer for three years. Kayleigh will attend Westminster College to pursue a degree in the medical field.

The other king candidates were Ryan Dodds and Caleb Martonfi.

Ryan Dodds is the son of Robert Dodds and Christi Anne Mayti. Ryan is involved in Future Business Leaders of America, scholar bowl, science research and science club. Ryan competed at the national level for FBLA, he won best of category at the Academy of Science, and he attended the Lincoln University science fair for his research project. Ryan works at a genetics lab in Columbia. Ryan plans to attend the University of Missouri to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering.

Caleb Martonfi is the son of Steve and Robin Martonfi. Caleb is involved in cross country, track, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, science research and scholar bowl. He is a drum major for band, and he is executive vice president for student council. Caleb has qualified for state in cross country and has received a gold rating for band at state. He is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist and a Regeneron Science Talent Search finalist. He received an honorable mention at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Caleb plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis to major in chemical engineering.

The other queen candidates were Trinity Crouch and Anna Herbert.

Trinity Crouch is the daughter of Doug and Chalee Crouch. She is active in student council as senior class president and FFA as second vice president. She is in National Honor Society, and she is an Edge tutor. Trinity has been in the top 10 percent of her class, has achieved summa cum laude, and has received six group-one ratings at FFA state conventions, top five in state in three fall speaking FFA contests, first at state in Ag Issues, and fourth at nationals in Ag Issues. Trinity is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She plans to attend the University of Missouri to major in agribusiness public policy then to go to law school to become an agriculture lawyer.

Anna Herbert is the daughter of Mike and Michelle Herbert. Anna has participated in volleyball, cross country and basketball for two years and track for four years. She has also participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and SkillsUSA. Anna was a state qualifier for track her sophomore and junior years. She attends Ninth Street Christian Church. She plans to attend Southwest Baptist University to pursue a career in the health field.

Alexis DuPont and Cassidy Prater represented the junior class.

Alexis DuPont is the daughter of Jason and Misty DuPont. Alexis is a member of Spanish Club, band and track. She is also an Edge mentor and a Mustang ambassador. Alexis has served as the band secretary for two years, and she was a member of the 2018 conference and district track team and the 2019 conference champ track team. Alexis plans to attend a four-year university to major in nursing.

Cassidy Prater is the daughter of Joey and Rona Prater. Cassidy has been involved in band, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball, volleyball and FFA. She was also a member of Central Missouri Volleyball Club for three years, track for two years and National Honor Society for one year. Cassidy attends Ninth Street Christian Church. She plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a degree in the medical field.

Emily Guthrie and Chloe Ruark represented the sophomore class.

Emily Guthrie is the daughter of Theresa Guthrie and Jeremy Lee. Emily is a member of cross country, basketball, track and FFA. Emily placed second at nationals for conduct of chapter meetings, she was a state qualifier for track, and she received All-Conference for cross country. Emily is a member of Ninth Street Christian Church. She plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a degree in education.

Chloe Ruark is the daughter or Boyd and Chandra Ruark. Chloe has lettered in softball and track; and she is a member of the art club, FFA and Missouri Stealth club softball team. Chloe attends New Life Church of Barnett. She plans to attend a four-year university to play softball.

Emily Davis and Kelsey Fischer represented the freshman class.

Emily Davis is the daughter of Colby and Connie Davis. Emily is involved in volleyball, Spring Garden 4-H, student council, H2 Columbia volleyball club, United Capital City Soccer Club and FFA, where she is a member of the conduct team. She attends Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Emily plans to attend a four-year university to play soccer and become a nutritionist.

Kelsey Fischer is the daughter of Shaun and Stacy Fischer. Kelsey is active in golf, FFA and student council. She currently serves as the freshman class vice president, and she is on the conduct team for FFA. Kelsey plans to attend Truman State University to major in psychology.
