2 local LU curator appointees confirmed

1 LU curator, 1 State Tech regent appointment withdrawn

The Missouri Senate this week confirmed two Jefferson City appointees to Lincoln University's Board of Curators, while Gov. Mike Parson withdrew a third appointee to the board out of the group he suggested in September.

Parson also withdrew an appointee to State Technical College of Missouri's Board of Regents whom he had nominated in February.

Judge Richard G. Callahan and Terry Rackers, both of Jefferson City, were confirmed to LU's Board of Curators.

Callahan currently serves as a senior circuit judge for the Cole County Circuit Court. He previously served as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri from 2010-17.

Callahan also has served on the board of directors and as vice president of the National District Attorneys Association, in addition to being a member of various other legal organizations and receiving several prestigious legal awards throughout his career.

Rackers is a retired business owner and pilot. He was part-owner of Central Missouri Aviation and Jefferson City Flying Service and served as president of both companies. He has also worked as an accident prevention counselor and a designated examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Rackers has been involved with community organizations including Jefferson City West Rotary Club, the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, and the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and Civic Progress.

Callahan and Rackers were unanimously confirmed by the Senate's Gubernatorial Appointments committee in the same vote as more than two dozen other appointees to various state boards, commissions, committees and other governing authorities.

Among the many nominations Parson withdrew this week was the nomination to LU's Board of Curators of Stacia Brown, of Kansas City. Parson had nominated Callahan, Rackers and Brown together in September.

Brown is a graduate of LU, where she earned a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology. She has had a long career in public education in the Kansas City area, working on both sides of the Kansas-Missouri state line there.

Parson's office did not immediately comment on why the governor withdrew Brown's nomination, as well as the nomination of Shanda Trautman, of Nixa, to State Technical College of Missouri's Board of Regents.

Parson had nominated Trautman in February. Trautman is Old Missouri Bank's senior vice president and chief digital officer and is civically active in the Springfield area.
