P-SNAP benefits extended through September

All Missouri Food Stamp recipients may again receive the maximum benefit for their household size in September.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture approved Missouri's request to extend the Pandemic Food Stamp/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The September Food Stamp/SNAP benefit will be the maximum amount for recipients' household size and will automatically be loaded onto the electronic benefit transfer cards.

P-SNAP is part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which allows households to receive the maximum benefits during a state of emergency.

Last month, 372,799 households representing 777,885 people received the benefits. At the onset of the pandemic in March, the program served about 310,000 households and 660,000 people.

The Missouri Department of Social Services website (mydss.mo.gov) provides information on the program and its income limits.

The Missouri Services Navigator, (mo.servicesnavigator.org/s4s/WhereILive/Council?pageId=1&lockla=true) provides information for more than 2,800 programs and services available in the state. Missourians may go there to find information on Food Stamps, Medicaid, Child Care Subsidy, the Low Income Energy Assistance Program or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
