State Technical College of Missouri is requiring its employees, students and visitors wear masks indoors to cover their mouths and noses to help slow the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Employees, students and visitors will receive one face covering when they arrive to campus, but can also wear their own, according to the mask policy posted on State Tech's website.

Classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 24 at State Tech.

The college was notified Aug. 10 two students who had recently been on campus had tested positive for COVID-19, and people in close contact with the students would be contacted, according to State Tech's COVID-19 response website.

The college was also notified July 18 two students had tested positive - one recently on campus and the other not. Likewise, those in close contact with the infected individual would be contacted.

People on campus who test positive for COVID-19, are told by a health care provider they are presumed positive, have been instructed to quarantine or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 are urged to notify State Tech by emailing [email protected] or calling 573-897-5224.

Employees should also contact their supervisor, and students should contact their instructors.

State Tech is stepping up cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, common areas and high-touch surfaces, but students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and bathrooms.

People in the campus community are also being asked to monitor their health every day, practice good hand-washing and to social distance when possible.

More information - including for a medical exception on wearing a mask - is available at statetechmo.edu/covid-19/.
