2 hurt in Callaway County wrecks Sunday

A Fulton man was arrested for driving while intoxicated Sunday night after he was hurt in a motorcycle crash in Callaway County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported Zachariah C. Keipp, 30, was driving his motorcycle westbound on Route F at 7:05 p.m. when it traveled off the left side of the road, struck several trees and ejected him.

Keipp, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of moderate injuries, the patrol said.

patrol arrest report accuses Keipp of driving while intoxicated as a prior offender, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana, and operating a motor vehicle with a driver's license not valid for such operation.

In a separate accident Sunday morning in Callaway County, a driver totaled his car when it ran off westbound Interstate 70, struck several signs, overturned and came to rest on the roadway. The crash occurred at 6 a.m., approximately a half-mile west of Route J.

The driver, Darriez M. Burse, 18, of Louisiana, Missouri, was transported by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the patrol reported. He was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.
