Local man charged in 3 burglary cases

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with three burglary cases from last year in Cole County.

Otis Resonno Jr., 35, is charged with three counts of second-degree burglary along with one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm and stealing.

Authorities believe Resonno was involved in burglaries at a residence in the 11500 block of West Lohman Road, as well as at residences in the 800 and 900 blocks of Route E, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement. These occurred between late September and early October 2019.

In September 2019, a resident in the 11500 block of West Lohman Road reported 17 firearms had been stolen from his gun safe along with jewelry and knives.

In early October 2019, two separate residences in the 800 and 900 blocks of Route E reported their homes had been broken into and items had been stolen. In one home, more than $4,000 in jewelry, cash and electronics was taken; in the other home, approximately $1,800 in coins was taken. Between the two homes, more than $1,300 in damage was done.

In each case, witnesses described a car and driver that had been seen in the area around the time of these burglaries. The vehicle was spotted in the Holts Summit area where authorities stopped it. Resonno was the driver of the vehicle.

Resonno admitted during an interview to being involved in the burglaries, authorities said.

Some of the guns taken from the West Lohman home were found at a Callaway County home. The homeowner said Resonno had sold them to him. Other items, such as knives, that had been sold to the homeowner were found to have been taken from the homes on Route E.
