Two facing charges for passing bad checks

Two men are facing multiple bad check charges in Cole County.

Kenneth Newson, 59, of St. Louis, faces 38 felony or misdemeanor passing bad check charges dating back to September 2017 and going through March of this year.

Eddie Evans, 32, of St. Peters, faces 10 counts of felony passing bad checks dating from February through March of this year.

Newson is believed to have written $70,000 in bad checks to the Missouri Department of Revenue, while Evans is alleged to have written $18,019 in bad checks, according to probable cause statements filed with the courts by the DOR.

Victims claimed they had paid cash to both men in exchange for vehicle registration and license plates. Copies of checks allegedly showed the signatures of Newson and Evans.
