Smash Mouth will headline the 2020 Concert Inside the Walls at the historic Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City.

This year's Concert Inside the Walls will make attendees feel like "all-stars" when Smash Mouth takes the stage - despite the concert being postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Originally scheduled in June, the concert will now be Sept. 12 at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, according to a news release from Salute to America.

Formed in 1994, Smash Mouth is known for hits like "All-Star," "I'm a Believer" and "Walkin' on the Sun." The band is about to release its newest single, "Out of Control."

"Smash Mouth has enjoyed multi-platinum selling success and is internationally loved by people of all ages and tastes," event coordinator Penny Smith said in the news release.

Concert tickets and T-shirts will go on sale Sunday at concertinsidethewalls.com.

Local band Five Turn Knot will open the Concert Inside the Walls, according to the website.

Past Concert Inside the Walls headliners have included Dennis DeYoungBig & RichWynonna Judd and the Big Noise, and Travis Tritt. Last year's concert was moved from the Missouri State Penitentiary to the Jefferson City Jaycees Fairground after the May 2019 tornado damaged the penitentiary site.

Jefferson City's staple Independence Day weekend celebration, Salute to America, is still set for July 3-5, Smith told the News Tribune, adding organizers will continue to monitor the situation.
