Jefferson City man receives jail time in chase case

A Jefferson City man has been ordered to serve 120 days in the Cole County Jail, with credit for time served, in connection with a foot chase with police in March.

Jacob Christian, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of resisting arrest during a Thursday hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce.

The incident occurred in the 1200 block of East Water Street, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

An officer had made contact with Christian following a traffic stop, and as the officer went back to his vehicle, Christian exited his vehicle and fled the area on foot.

The officer shot Christian twice with his Taser, and each time, he pulled the wires that had struck him out of his body and continued to run.

Eventually, the officer was able to physically take down Christian in the 100 block of South Taylor Street.

Christian had three active warrants for his arrest at the time of this arrest, according to court records.
