Jefferson City woman gets probation in drug offense

A Jefferson City woman has been placed on five years of supervised probation in connection with an illegal drug offense from October 2017.

Lisa Burkhart, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance during a Tuesday hearing before Cole County Judge Dan Green.

Misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana and a glass pipe as drug paraphernalia were dismissed by prosecutors.

As part of her probation, Burkhart will have to successfully complete the alternative court program.

A Jefferson City police officer observed who the officer knew to be Burkhart in the 1700 block of East Miller Street. The officer conducted a warrant check that indicated Burkhart had an active Cole County warrant for her arrest.

While talking with Burkhart, she "attempted to discard a methamphetamine pipe and two bags of methamphetamine, marijuana and several individual bags consistent with those used for the delivery of narcotics, near a vehicle parked in the area," according to court documents.
