Tow Pro Wrecker operators work to upright a fifth-wheel camper Monday afternoon. The camper was the middle vehicle of three damaged in the traffic crash that occurred shortly after noon. The driver and passenger were reportedly uninjured after the boat trailer being towed behind a fifth-wheel camper sustained a blown tire causing the trailer to fishtail behind the camper. Eventually the momentum caught up with the camper and truck causing all three to run off the right side of westbound U.S. 54, just north of the Rt. 179 overpass, where they came to rest on their sides. According to the Jefferson City Police Department, the accident occurred about 12:19 p.m., causing westbound traffic to be slowed to one lane during the cleanup.

No injuries were reported after a truck pulling two trailers overturned Monday afternoon in Jefferson City.

According to police reports, officers responded at 12:18 p.m. to the crash on U.S. 54 West at the Missouri 179 exit.

Steven R. Billett, 66, of Three Rivers, Michigan, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet 2500 truck pulling a boat on a trailer when a tire blew out on the trailer, causing it skid out of control.

This caused the truck and a camper trailer it was also towing to skid out of control and overturn on the outside shoulder just before Missouri 179.

Billett was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Traffic in the area was restricted for about 90 minutes as emergency workers cleared the scene.
