KOMU reaches transmission deal with Mediacom

Officials with television stations KOMU 8 and Mid-Missouri’s CW and cable company Mediacom announced Wednesday they’ve agreed to a new, multi-year agreement before expiration of their current agreement.

According to a news release, KOMU 8 negotiates agreements with cable and satellite providers to allow them to resell KOMU’s program streams to the cable and satellite providers’ customers.

Station officials said they were pleased the negotiation between the station and the satellite provider will prevent disruptions that could affect viewers.

KOMU 8 is an auxiliary enterprise of the University of Missouri and is responsible for generating all revenues for station operations. Its operations and investments in broadcast technology are funded by advertising and retransmission revenues. The station receives no funding from the university or state.
