A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation after pleading guilty to charges in connection with a foot chase with officers in August.

During a hearing before Cole County Judge Jon Beetem, Ronald Mitchell, 31, pleaded guilty to felony charges of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance along with a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. Misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement said officers were attempting to arrest Mitchell on an outstanding warrant in the 300 block of West Ashley Street. When called out to him, Mitchell fled on foot and went south into the 800 block of Broadway Street where officers eventually caught him.

Officers searched Mitchell and found he was in possession of a glass pipe, a loaded .380-caliber pistol and plastic baggies containing methamphetamine and marijuana.
