The American Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri needs volunteers in the Eldon area.

The nonprofit organization will host an informational meeting for prospective volunteers from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Eldon Community Center, 309 E. 2nd St. in Eldon, according to a Red Cross news release.

The meeting will provide participants with information about volunteer opportunities within the organization.

Volunteers make up more than 90 percent of the Red Cross workforce, said Abigail Anderson, executive director of the chapter. The organization's mission requires that it have the right people available to respond to emergencies when they arise.

People who are unable to attend the meeting, but are interested in volunteering should contact Carina Kagan at 314-356-5726 or by email at [email protected]
