Patience has paid off for the Osage County branch of the Missouri River Regional Library.

The library had been looking for the perfect home for the Linn library for years before MRRL Director Claudia Cook found the Deutsches Heim site in 2018.

It didn't take long for all the parties involved to decide the new location on Route CC would be ideal for the branch library's growth.

And the library bought the site and began preparing for its makeover.

That's where patience comes in most handy. Library officials hope the site is to be available for move-in during January, Cook said Tuesday.

And as they prepared for the changes ahead, library staff reached out to the Three Rivers Helping Hands Community Foundation. The foundation asks generous Three Rivers Electric Cooperative customers to "round up" their monthly electric bills. The result brings in about $8,700 monthly the foundation uses for community benefits.

The foundation helps individuals and families with medical expenses. It also helps businesses and organizations making improvements to increase accessibility, foundation coordinator Vicki Lange said.

"The library's mission aligns closely with ours," Lange said.

The Helping Hands foundation awarded MRRL $10,000 Tuesday to help it pay for added expenses for making entrances, bathrooms and spaces more Americans with Disabilities Act accessible.

Helping Hands serves seven counties - Cole, Osage, Maries, Miller and Gasconade, and parts of Moniteau and Franklin counties.
