Two die in Saturday traffic accidents

Devon C. Frisbie, 21, of Brumley, died in a one-vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon in Miller County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported he was driving eastbound on Missouri 42, east of Coker Road at 4:28 p.m. when his vehicle went off the right side of the road. He overcorrected, and his vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, began skidding and sliding. It overturned and struck a utility pole.

He was not wearing a safety device, the patrol said.

Billy D. Scrivner, 61, of Barnett, died in a one-vehicle wreck that also seriously injured the passenger.

The wreck occurred at 4:15 p.m. Saturday on Missouri 52, about 700 feet west of Buttercup Road in Morgan County.

The patrol said the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure, causing it to cross the center line and travel off the south edge of the road and into a field, where it overturned numerous times.

Passenger Penny K. Houston was taken to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City with serious injuries.

Neither Barnett nor Houston was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
