The Wells Fargo Foundation recently awarded Capital City Court Appointed Special Advocates a $5,000 grant. The Wells Fargo Foundation awarded Capital City Court Appointed Special Advocates a grant early this week, allowing the organization to buy luggage for children entering foster care.

Capital City CASA received $5,000 for its No More Trash Bags Initiative, which provides luggage for the children.

Children entering foster care often have only minutes to pack their belongings in whatever is available before leaving their homes. Typically, the only option is to use a plastic trash bag.

Because people associate trash bags with throwing things away, children having to put their belongings in trash bags sends the message they are disposable and unwanted.

The initiative aims to provide luggage for the children so their self-value is not undermined.
