The Fr. Helias Knights of Columbus Council 1054 recently donated more than $11,000 to five local groups at the council's annual officer installation and family dinner.

The Helias Foundation, Vitae Society, Pregnancy Help Center, Immaculate Conception School and St. Peter Interparish School received the donations, according to a news release from the council.

Proceeds from the council's Lenten fish fries funded the donations.

Council members also honored Pat Schaefer with the Charles Kolb Award for outstanding and distinguished service.

Schaefer has been an active council member for 44 years and has served in various officer roles and volunteered or chaired many of the council's fundraising and volunteer activities. He also volunteers at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Helias Catholic High School.

Jeannine Schaefer, Schaefer's wife, also received recognition for her support of the council.

The council installed officers for the 2019-20 fraternal year: Grand Knight Mike Flanagan; Deputy Grand Knight Kevin Stegeman; Chancellor Rory Stegeman; Advocate Mike Bish; Treasurer Brent Cain; Recorder Jack Kramer; Chaplain Fr. Basil Tigga; Warden Keith Wenzel; Inside Guard Ron Vossen; Outside Guard Levi Woods; Trustees Cain, Schaefer and Andy Forck; Lecturer Larry Schetzler; and Financial Secretary Dan Smith.
