Blair Oaks High School students celebrate Winterfest

Blair Oaks High School’s Senior Winterfest Court celebrated with the rest of the school in late January. Court members include, front from left, Annette Peterson, Lauren Casey (Queen) and Erin Fennewald, and back from left, Caleb Buechter, Corban Bonnett (King) and Nolan Hair.

Blair Oaks High School celebrated Winterfest 2019 from Jan. 22-26. This year's theme was Paris, France, with the slogan "City of Lights." Students participated in many games throughout the week, including a sleeping bag race down the hallways by the wrestling team.

The Winterfest king, prince and princess were crowned at a school assembly Jan. 24, while the queen was crowned Friday night at the Winterfest game against Linn High School. The week came to a close with a dance Saturday night, where the students danced the night away in their own little slice of Paris.

The 2019 Senior Winterfest Court includes:

Queen Lauren Casey is the daughter of Christy and Todd Casey, of Wardsville. Her activities include varsity volleyball; club volleyball; Future Business Leaders of America, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; National Honor Society; Operation Bugle Boy; Traction; student council and a class officer.

She plans to attend Arkansas Tech University and play volleyball while double majoring in criminology and justice studies and political science with a minor in pre-law.

King Corban Bonnett is the son of Troy and LeAnne Bonnett, of Osage Bend. His activities include football, basketball and FFA.

He is undecided on where he plans to attend college but wants to major in agriculture.

Caleb Buechter is the son of Amanda Wooten and Craig Buechter, of St. Thomas. His activities include football, track and Pep Club.

He plans to attend Missouri State University to major in education.

Erin Fennewald is the daughter of Les and Loretta Fennewald, of Taos. Her activities include National Honor Society, Pep Club, varsity softball and student council.

She plans to attend a four-year university to major in pre-law.

Nolan Hair is the son of Scott and Sheila Hair, of Wardsville. His activities include football, basketball and baseball.

He plans to attend a four-year university.

Annette Peterson is the daughter of Rickie Peterson and late father Kurt, of Taos. Her activities include National Honor Society, Traction, Operation Bugle Boy, FBLA, FCCLA, track and student council.

She plans to attend University of Central Missouri to major in integrative animal biology and to be a part of their track team.
