Moniteau County Assessor Amanda Trimble has officially resigned from her position, the governor's office confirmed Friday.
Trimble will resign from her position effective Jan. 1, at which point Gov. Mike Parson will be able to appoint a replacement to see out the remainder of the term in 2020.
Kelli Jones, Parons's communications director, said this process likely will begin "no sooner than 15 days" following Trimble's exit. Though it is just a guess in the early stages following Trimble's resignation, Jones said, the governor's office will try to be prompt in finding a replacement.
"We'll probably act as quickly as we can," Jones said.
Per Missouri state statute, a county commission may fill a vacant position with a temporary appointee until an appointment is made by the governor, in the event an appointment takes a longer amount of time.
Trimble's resignation concludes a more than month-long timeline that began with a whistleblower complaint submitted to the Missouri State Auditor's Office on Nov. 18. The office's Public Corruption and Fraud Division continues its investigation into Trimble's conduct.
Moniteau County law enforcement's own investigation also continues, as confirmed by both Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley and Moniteau County Presiding Commissioner Mac Finley earlier this month.
