Staff at the Samaritan Center accepted a donation Friday from Hy-Vee, St. James Winery and Major Brands.

St. James Winery and Public Brewing House Company donated a portion of every case of wine and beer sold at Hy-Vee through November and December to the Samaritan Center to provide holiday meals for the community.

They sold 133 cases of beer and wine, and the public donated $1,971.31, raising a grand total of $2,636.31 — enough to buy 60 holiday meals.

Major Brands and the Hofherr family also donated a portion of Friday’s gift.
