The Fulton Police Department is investigating a shooting death that occurred early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Jefferson Street at approximately 3 a.m. for a report of a gunshot. Arriving officers discovered a person who was shot. That person was taken to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.

According to the FPD, the subject was shot after entering the residence.

FPD Chief Steve Myers said there will be no updates regarding the investigation until Monday. Myers said there will not be any names released as the investigation is still ongoing.

"I anticipate the investigation could go into part of next week," Myers said.
