Summer send-off to feature Polynesian fun

The Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association will wave farewell to the season in September, when it hosts the End of Summer Luau.

The celebration and fundraiser will happen from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 5.

Tickets are $20 each, or five for $90, and may be found at mofosteradopt.com/luau.

The event will send off the summer and give participants a chance to network and share their summer stories.

It will include frozen drinks, cold beer, barbecue, live music, and fire and hula dancing.

The event is also intended to raise money for the association.

The event gives the “amazing” Central Missouri community the chance to support families and children, CMFCAA CEO and President DeAnna Alonso said.

There are more than 1,400 youth in foster care, with many more still waiting for forever families, she added.

Each ticket entitles the holder to a meal and a drink. Sweet Smoke BBQ, of Jefferson City, is providing the main course. Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar & Grill, of Gravois Mills, will provide frozen drinks.

Uke 66, a ukulele acoustic duo, will perform inside from 5-7 p.m. Guitarist Bruce Poe is to perform outside from 5-7 p.m.

The Cherry Pistols Live Mix Tape, a Mid-Missouri rock, pop and funk band, will follow outside from 7-10 p.m.

The fire-dancing duo, Seas of Fire, is to perform outside from 7-9 p.m.

Prizes will be given for hula hoop and limbo competitions.

CMFCAA has partnered with Larry’s Motor Sports for a raffle featuring a 2018 Honda Recon four-wheeler. Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100 and may also be found online. You need not be present to win.
