Two people were injured Tuesday morning when two vehicles collided in the westbound lanes of U.S. 50/63 at Shamrock Road in eastern Jefferson City.

Jefferson City police report the front of a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Megan Tobar, 29, of Westphalia, struck the rear of a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Mallory Backman, 25, of Chamois, at 7:11 a.m. as Backman's vehicle was stopped for traffic ahead. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries, police said.

Both vehicles received extensive damage and were towed from the scene. Westbound traffic on the divided highway was restricted to one lane for approximately 30 minutes during the accident investigation.
