2 Jefferson City businesses' employees cited for selling alcohol to minors

Two Jefferson City businesses were cited for selling alcohol to minors during recent compliance checks.

The Jefferson City Police Department, Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, and the Council for Drug Free Youth collaborated to conduct alcohol compliance checks at eight local businesses April 12, according to JCPD reports.

Officers had an 18-year-old woman attempt to purchase alcohol at the businesses. Six of the businesses turned the young lady away after appropriately checking her identification.

Employees at the other two businesses sold alcohol to the minor after checking her identification that showed she was 18.

The businesses found to be not in compliance were Break Time at 627 Clark Ave. and We B Smokin at 2215 Missouri Blvd.

The employees of those businesses were cited under Jefferson City municipal ordinance governing the sale of alcohol to minors.
