A Jefferson City man has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal crash this weekend in Cole County.

Kin Patterson, 21, is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter along with two misdemeanors charges, failure to yield the right-of-way and driving without a valid license.

Sedalia resident Michael D. Poindexter, 49, died in the two-vehicle wreck that occurred Saturday.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show Patterson was driving south on U.S. 50 West at Lookout Trail when he attempted to cross the highway and pulled into the path of a motorcycle driven by Poindexter.

Poindexter's vehicle struck Patterson's vehicle, causing Poindexter to be ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Patterson and passenger Brittney M. Johnson, 27, of Jefferson City, sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
