Jefferson City police are asking for help in finding a person who fled from officers Thursday night following a traffic stop.

Officers conducted a traffic stop around 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Fairgrounds Road; and the driver, Bryce Efford, was found to have a revoked license, according to police reports.

When officers attempted to take Efford into custody, he resisted, injuring one officer's arm. Another officer used a Taser unsuccessfully, and Efford fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area, police reported.

Other officers set up a perimeter around the area, and a K-9 unit was brought in to track Efford's path, going through backyards on Fairland Road and Village Drive, through the Jefferson City Jaycees Fairgrounds and into the Covington Gardens subdivision. The search stopped after about an hour after officers got to London Way and South Country Club Drive.

Authorities did recover a 9mm handgun from the vehicle Efford was driving.

Efford faces potential charges of second-degree assault, assault on a law officer, resisting arrest and driving while revoked.

Anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of Efford is asked to contact the Police Department at 573-634-6400.
