The Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission on Tuesday recommended demolition of three buildings on and near Missouri Boulevard.

Contractor Jim Wisch submitted a review application to demolish structures at 1708 and 1710 Missouri Blvd., as well as at 621 Conrad St. The three buildings, which are across from Schnucks, were built between 1950-60, Jefferson City Neighborhood Services Specialist Sheri Johnston said.

While Weber Meat Market is still operating, Johnston said, the other two buildings are vacant.

Weber Meat Market would be operational until December, commissioner Donna Deetz said.

Wisch was not present at the meeting.

The commission also approved of the demolition of 312 and 314 Case Ave., owned by Capital Region Medical Center. The two structures are 98 years old and vacant, according to the applications.

The area is intended for "institutional use" under the Historic Southside/Old Munichburg District and Neighborhood Plan, Johnston said. CRMC proposed the 20-year plan, which was adopted by the city in 2017.

A representative from CRMC was not present at the meeting.

Property owner Margaret Gooch also submitted a demolition review application for the structure at 1936 Vieth Drive, which is about 70 years old. The commission recommended approval of the application.

Gooch was not present at the meeting.
