SERVE looking for donations

Officials from SERVE, Inc. said 147 children are still “unadopted” for the annual Adopt-a-Family program.

The program, which is 100 percent local, helps provide gifts for each child and a full Christmas meal for each family. The program also includes senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.

This year, SERVE, Inc. has 100 senior and disabled individuals, and nearly 400 children who were accepted in the Christmas assistance program — almost 100 more than last year. The goal is to have 100 percent adoption to ensure no child goes without, and time is running out. There are less than three weeks left before the distribution of gifts, and SERVE is asking for all hands on deck.

An individual, family, group or organization can “Adopt and Shop” for a family. This is a fun way to get children involved to help those who are in need, and is a great way for families to work together to help make a child’s Christmas wish come true. When you adopt a child, SERVE will send you their wish list and sizes, and you will get to shop and pick out the gifts for that child.
