Artist's war-time work to be featured Saturday

The Rozier Gallery at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site is hosting "Thomas Hart Benton and the Navy" on Saturday. This is a traveling exhibit of Benton's naval art produced for Abbott Laboratories during World War II.

According to state parks officials, thousands of Benton's war-time artworks were reproduced for the public to provoke emotions in support of the war effort. On Saturday, Jefferson Landing staff will help attendees learn more about Benton's art and printmaking. Attendees will also be able to try printmaking and take their artwork home.

This is a drop-in event, so visitors are welcome 11 a.m.-3 p.m. It is suggested those planning to attend arrive by 2:30 p.m. to make sure their artwork can be finished before the event closes. The hands-on activity is appropriate for children, youth and adults.

Jefferson Landing State Historic Site, part of the Missouri state park system, is located at 100 Jefferson St.
