LINN, Mo. -- State Technical College of Missouri has barred non-essential personnel from traveling from Cole County to the school's campus in Linn, after Cole County enacted a stay-at-home order last week.

State Tech's campus is in neighboring Osage County. Cole County has been under a stay-at-home order since 5 p.m. Saturday.

Because of that, State Tech announced Friday that "any non-essential personnel will not be allowed to travel to campus."

Essential personnel include those who work in information technology, finance, leadership, housing and custodial/maintenance, according to the update on the college's website.

The college instructed essential employees living in Cole County to request a letter indicating their status, which would allow for travel to and from work.

The college noted it is also in contact with the Osage County Health Department and would inform staff of any changes stemming from that county.

State Tech also announced last week that summer classes will start online May 14, asking all faculty "to assume we will not have students on campus before June 1."
