Mid-Mo celebrations honor Labor Day weekend

The long Labor Day holiday weekend provides ample time to celebrate - and Mid-Missouri is taking advantage.

Here's a roundup of some of the area's festivities.

Jamestown

Celebrate Labor Day in Jamestown this weekend during the 59th Jamestown Lions Club celebration at Lions Club Park.

The festivities run Friday through Monday with co-ed and men's softball games going on all weekend along with a beer garden featuring live music.

Also on the schedule is a tractor pull at 6:30 p.m. Friday, and on Saturday, a car show at is slated for noon Saturday and the TT race is at 5 p.m.

Sunday has a full schedule of events starting with FFA breakfast 8-9:30 a.m. in the Community Building followed by community worship at 9:30 p.m. at the Shelter House. Horseshoe, cornhole and washer tournaments are planned throughout the day Sunday, and there's also an ATV/UTV rodeo at 3 p.m. The evening wraps up with a movie night on the side of the old fire house at dark.

Cap off the weekend with a barbecue pork and beef dinner Monday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Community Building. Monday will also feature a vendor show, bingo, children's games and a baby show.

Mokane

In its 71st installment, Mokane's annual Labor Day World's Fair returns to Lions Club Park this weekend.

Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday and running though Sunday night, the weekend features carnival rides, live music, bingo and clog dancing. And don't forget the area's famed mutton sandwiches.

On the schedule Friday night is entertainment from DJ McGrath, softball games and a demolition derby that begins at 7 p.m. The evening ends with an 8 p.m. performance by Those Guys.

An 11 a.m. parade led by the South Callaway High School Bulldog Pride Marching Band kicks off the Saturday festivities. Other Saturday highlights include a 6:30 p.m. clogging performance, a tractor pull at 7 p.m. and an 8 p.m. concert featuring Alter-K-Shon.

On Sunday, there will be a 2 p.m. performance by the Flat Footin' Follies, a 3 p.m. fiddlers' contest, and a 7 p.m. antique truck and tractor pull.

The carnival rides are open from 1-10 p.m. during the weekend, and wristbands cost $25 a day to ride.

Lake of the Ozarks

Live music and fireworks are expected at numerous locations this holiday weekend in the Lake of the Ozarks.

Some of the weekend's festivities include:

Concerts at Ozarks Amphitheater in Camdenton - Brantley Gilbery, Michael Ray and SixForty1 perform Friday; Halestorm, the Hu and Cory Marks is Saturday; and Dwight Yoakam is Sunday.

A variety of live musical acts at resorts and venues across the area.

"Headin' Down the Trail," an Old West dinner theater experience at the Camden County Historical Museum in Linn Creek.

Fireworks at Bear Bottom Resort in Sunrise Beach on Saturday and Sunday, as well as at The Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Point Randall Resort in Lake Ozark and Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach on Sunday.

Scramble Golf Tournament on Monday at Rolling Hills Country Club in Versailles.
