Phil Vassar to perform Angiepalooza concert at Riverside

Tickets go on sale Friday for the latest act to hit the amphitheater stage at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park.

In addition to hearing country music hits, though, attending the Oct. 22 Phil Vassar concert will be supporting a worthy cause.

Sponsored by Angiepalooza, proceeds from the show benefit the Red Slipper Warrior project, a nonprofit focused on empowering girls and women fighting cancer.

Angiepalooza - named in honor of founder Tim Tinnin's wife, Angie, who lost her battle with cancer in 2012 - has been bringing live entertainment to the Capital City since 2013 and honoring "the real rockstars of Angiepalooza," those who have beaten, are fighting or have lost their battle with cancer, according to information on the organization's Facebook page.

Nashville-based songwriter Phil Vassar is known for his piano-pounding hits, including 10 No. 1 singles and 26 Top 40 hits; titles include "Carlene," "Just Another Day in Paradise," "Six-Pack Summer" and "When I Love You."

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show Oct. 22 can be purchased at ticketmaster.com. Amphitheater ticket prices vary by seat, typically ranging from $30-$75.
