The annual Catch Me if You Can fun run and obstacle course Saturday is sure to bring some challenges both children and their parents can conquer.

Catch Me if You Can, hosted by the Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, features obstacles, mud pits and a slip n' slide for children ages 6-17. The first flight will leave at 9:20 a.m. Subsequent flights will be released every 20 minutes, with the last flight leaving at 10:40 a.m. Pre-registration is required for the event and will be accepted until Aug. 27.

Phil Stiles, special events program manager for JC Parks, said participants should "be prepared to get messy."

"I think part of the uniqueness of the event is the different obstacles along the course, especially the mud pits," Stiles said.

Cost is $40 per participant. Each will receive a wristband in their event packet, which can be picked up today through Saturday at The Linc, 1299 Lafayette St.

Adults may run alongside and accompany young children on obstacles if needed by paying $10 for a wristband; volunteers and staff will be stationed along the route as well. For more information, visit JC Parks at bit.ly/3myxxDy.
