Mayor Carrie Tergin fills a beer stein Sept. 28 during the 2019 Oktoberfest tapping of the keg ceremony. This year’s event is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

The 20th anniversary of Oktoberfest in Old Munichburg will not be the big blowout many would have expected.

Due to public health concerns, the Old Munichburg Association announced the event this year, branded as "Oktoberfest Lite," would be a mini celebration that includes the usual brats, beer and wine, as well as vendors and the annual Mid-Mo Old Car Club Round Up and Show. But features like live music, the kids' corner and the Dachshund Derby will not be held.

The event is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in Old Munichburg, centered on West Dunklin, Broadway and Washington streets.

Unlike previous years, this will not be a fundraiser for the Old Munichburg Association. Instead, the association stated on its website this year's event "is simply a celebration of community, a chance to have some fun, and an opportunity to support our vendors and to shop locally."

The Mid-Mo Old Car Club Round Up and Show will have same day registration available from 8-10 a.m., with entry costing $20 per vehicle. The first 100 entries will receive dash plaques and door prizes. There are 18 classes that vehicles can be entered in with trophies given to the top three in each class, except the young adult class where only first place receives a trophy, as well as for ladies' choice, people's choice, diamond in the rough, roughest vehicle, and two different best of show awards, one for stock and one for modified.

The car show, which will be at the intersection of Dunklin and Broadway, is free for spectators.

And though the Dachshund Derby will not be held, Butterfly Treasure Hospice Resale Shop will be announcing the winners of the second Oktoberfest Dachshund Beauty Contest on the shop's Facebook page during the celebration Saturday. Entries had to be submitted by Monday in categories including Moxie Doxie Pups, for those six months or younger; Special Seniors, for those eight years or older; Doxie Duos, for pairs; Dapper/Dive Doxie, for a male and/or female dog; and Best Action Shot.

To check out the winners, visit the Butterfly Treasure Hospice Resale Shop's Facebook page on Saturday.
