Bringing in the weekend with food trucks

Food Truck Friday, Food Truck Day at Capitol set for tomorrow

Food trucks should not be hard to find Friday.

Two events are scheduled to bring the mobile food crowd to downtown Jefferson City, with Food Truck Day at the Capitol scheduled 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the south side of the parking lot on East High Street, and Food Truck Friday set for 5-8 p.m. in the parking lot of the Miller Performing Arts Center.

The lunchtime event at the Capitol, hosted by the Missouri Office of Administration, is meant to thank state employees for their dedication and commitment (the official name of the event is the State Team Member Appreciation Food Truck Day), though the event is open to everyone. Trucks expected to participate include 2 Odd Dawgs, The Big Cheeze Mizzou, Jerk Hut, La Chica Loca, Ready Popped Kettle Corn and More, Serendipity Coffee & Tea and Sno Biz Jefferson City. According to the event's Facebook page, social distancing will be enforced with markers, rails, support staff and sanitizing stations available.

The event will be held rain or shine.

If you're still looking for more food truck fun come dinner time, then head over to the Miller Performing Arts Center parking lot 5-8 p.m. for Food Truck Friday, the monthly celebration of food trucks and live music that starts in spring and runs through the summer. Because of the pandemic, the series of events kicked off last month, two months behind the normal start, and featured only to-go options, instead of the usual seating available.

This month, organizers are keeping the same set up, though attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs. There also will be a DJ instead of a live band.

Trucks expected to take part in this month's Food Truck Friday, include Wrap It Up, Rebel Tacos, Eat Crepe Love, JQ's on High, Love My Gelato, Serendipity Coffee & Tea and Ready Popped Kettle Corn and More.
