Community members gather at The Millbottom for the Food and Drink Fest hosted by Rebel Tacos and Shrunken Head Mobile Bar in June. The final event of the season is set for 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Enjoy some time outside with good food, drinks and live music at the second Food & Drink Fest tonight at The Millbottom.

First held last month, this event, set for 5-8 p.m. today, is hosted by Rebel Tacos and Shrunken Head Mobile Bar in the parking lot of The Millbottom, 400 W. Main St. In addition to the two hosts, Mr. Murphy Stuffed Potatoes, Ready Popped Kettle Corn and More, and Zydeco's Cajun Kitchen will be on hand, along with live music from Shea and Shorty.

Andrea Young, with Rebel Tacos, said this event came out of the popularity of Food Truck Friday, held once a month during the spring and summer at the Miller Performing Arts Center. Before the 2019 tornado, the event was held on East Capitol Avenue. Young said the event was able to move to the Miller Center, thankfully, but the property does not allow for alcohol sales, meaning Shrunken Head could not participate.

"That's why we wanted to do this," Young said, referring to Food & Drink Fest. "We thought Jefferson City needed another (food truck event)."

The plan is to continue the event once a month through September, and Young said the first one went very well.

"We were all very pleased," Young said. "Everybody said it was a really good time."

Young said there will be outdoor seating, including chairs on the patio, and restrooms available inside. The event is free to attend and Young hopes people will come out and relax with some good music.

"We're hoping it continues and it grows," Young said.

Food & Drink Fest is 5-8 p.m. today in the parking lot of The Millbottom.
