The Blair Oaks R-2 school district will have a new administrative staff member in the coming school year.

Jason Wise will be the assistant to the elementary and middle school principals. Wise has taught social studies at Blair Oaks Middle School for the last four years and has 12 total years of teaching experience.

Superintendent Jim Jones said the position is not new — Blair Oaks Elementary School Principal Tara Bishop once had it — and the position's primary role is not supervision of instruction.

Jones said the assistant helps with day-to-day operations and is shared between the elementary and middle schools for two or three days at a time at each building.

"This has been the right situation," Jones said, instead of having assistant principals at each building.
