A familiar store in Jefferson City is getting a new name.
American Freight announced late last month it has purchased the FFO Home Stores in Jefferson City and Columbia, with the stores being rebranded as American Freight Furniture, Mattress and Appliance, and grand openings scheduled for Friday. The Jefferson City location is at 2010 Missouri Blvd.
The rebranded stores will carry a wider selection of furniture and mattresses, with the addition of appliances, according to a news release.
American Freight offers same-day delivery, flexible payment options and a free layaway program, though some restrictions apply.
An existing American Freight Furniture and Mattress store at 2233 Missouri Blvd. opened in October 2019 in the former home of Here Today and Hastings Entertainment. Spokesperson Marcus Durbin said the new store will include appliances that cannot be found at the existing location at 2233 Missouri Blvd.
"We intend to operate both stores for the foreseeable future, and we look forward to serving all furniture, mattress and appliances consumers in Jefferson City and surrounding areas, " Durbin said in an email.
FFO Home filed for bankruptcy last fall. In the release announcing the acquisition, American Freight stated the move meant the preservation of local jobs that may have otherwise been lost had FFO Home stores permanently closed.
American Freight will be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
