What's currently a small area of mud, gravel and concrete off U.S. 54 in Eugene will soon be a place where people can grub on some classic fast food before scrubbing down their vehicles.

Shawn and Amanda Dworaczyk hope to open Grub and Scrub - a restaurant and car wash - at 14228 Mt. Carmel Road in April.

The business will feature a 1,700-square-foot restaurant where people can chow down on food like hamburgers, chicken strips, pulled pork sandwiches and ice cream, as well as some Cajun food.

While the Dworaczyks plan to serve lunch and dinner, they hope to eventually add a breakfast menu.

The building will have dine-in space for 35-40 people, along with a drive-thru window.

Next door to the restaurant will be a four-bay car wash - one automatic bay, two covered manual bays and one outdoor manual bay. The floors of the car wash will be heated, and customers will be able use an app to pay for washes, the Dworaczyks said.

With a school nearby, the Dworaczyks said, they anticipate students will either work at or regularly stop by Grub and Scrub.

The Dworaczyks said they saw a need for Grub and Scrub since the car wash in Eugene closed and the small town lacks a variety of food options.

"It all started with the car wash, but I think the restaurant is making me more excited than the car wash," Shawn said. "I'm ready for it."
