Tricia Smith had been pushing off starting her own boutique for years, but in the midst of a pandemic, she decided it was time to make that leap of faith.

Smith and her daughter, Shana Luebbering, will open The Honey Do Boutique on Sept. 5 at 1502 E. High St. Suite 40 in Jefferson City.

"If I'm successful, it'll feel really good that I'm successful, and if I fail, I fail," Smith said. "It's not the end of the world because I fulfilled my dream to some extent. I tried it, and I can say that I did it. It's better than sitting back and continuing to work for a large corporation not knowing if I could do this."

The 600-square-foot boutique will sell a wide variety of items, from home decor to clothes to baby products. The shop will also have some repurposed and refurnished furniture, handmade products from other countries and products that will appeal to men, Smith added.

"If you're looking for that gift that's different than what you would get (at) Walmart, you can get that here," Smith said.

Luebbering added: "A lot of the boutiques are either just clothing or just art. We have a little bit of everything."

Over the years, Smith said, she couldn't decide if she should sell specifically clothes, baby products or home decor. Since she's indecisive, she said, she combined all of her ideas into one store.

Smith and Luebbering said they are excited to work together, adding they understand each other.

Along with the shop, both women have other jobs - Smith works for the United Health Group while Luebbering is a registered nurse.

When the two women can't work at The Honey Do Boutique because of their other jobs, Smith's husband, Ron, will work at the store.

The Honey Do Boutique will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.
