Julie Smith/News Tribune Aldi has announced that they will be moving one block west to the former Moser’s location on Missouri Boulevard. Construction is still ongoing to prepare the store to open later this month.

The Jefferson City Aldi will open in its new location in less than two weeks.

Aldi will open Aug. 28 at 2413 Missouri Blvd., an Aldi spokesperson told the News Tribune in an email.

The new store will replace the current one at 2225 Missouri Blvd.

"We've proudly served the Jefferson City community for more than eight years, and we are excited to provide residents an improved shopping experience at our new location," the spokesperson said.

The current Aldi location will close Aug. 27, according to signs posted at the store.

The current store will not receive any new Aldi Finds for the next couple of weeks, but the products will be stocked at the new location, the signs note.

Shoppers will notice a considerable size difference at the new Aldi. The new location will be about 21,450 square feet, compared to the current store's 14,000 square feet, according to the city building permit.

After years of the Jefferson City community urging Aldi to relocate, the corporate office announced the move in April.

Aldi's new location previously housed Mighty MO Cash Saver, formerly known as Moser's, until it closed in 2016.
