State unemployment remains steady at 3.3%

Missouri has seen a slight growth in employment for June 2019, but the state's unemployment rate remains steady with last month at 3.3 percent.

Of a civilian labor force of just over 3 million, 101,125 were unemployed in June.

Missouri non-farm employment grew by 3,937 from the previous month, but has dropped 2,237 compared to last June.

The largest jumps in employment compared to last month came from arts, entertainment and recreation, which grew by 1,400, and in construction and transportation, which each saw 1,200 additional jobs.

The area that saw the biggest drop in employment was accommodation and food services, which lost 3,700 jobs compared to May.

In Jefferson City, total non-farm employment dropped by 100 from last month, and 400 from last June, to 76,400 jobs.

Trade, transportation and utilities jobs increased by 300 from last June, as did retail trade jobs. Federal government employees remained steady at 800, and state employees increased by 100.
